Runway pledges to use a portion of our profits to contribute and work with organisations all over the world combating human trafficking like Polaris, Prajwala, COSA, Urban Light, Goodweave, and The Empower Foundation to help end human trafficking.
BECAUSE WE DON’T BELIEVE ANY ONE SHOULD HAVE TO COMPROMISE, ESPECIALLY THEIR LIFE!
Why We Support The Fight Against Human Trafficking?
Today, there are 27 to 30 million modern-day slaves in the world today according to the United Nations.
While human trafficking is thought of something that happens overseas, it also occurs in America every single day.
According to Polaris Project, there are 100,000 to 300,000 children prostituted in America and many more at risk.
The U.S. State Department cites that 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across borders every year.
This is something we can’t stand idly and watch! That’s why we are doing something about it!
How does this happen?
- A woman could respond to an ad for entertainment or waitressing jobs by sham placement agencies that confiscate their documents and forced into sex work.
- A relative may tell their niece she’s going away to work at a nice restaurant, when in fact, she will be shipped to a brothel.
- A poor family will send their own daughters in sex work or labor for the lucrative one-time pay-off to support the rest of their family and the promise of more payment in the future.
Every life is valuable and does not deserve to be enslaved by someone else.
Our vision is to create a world where all women can live without compromise!
